This one day linocut workshop is designed to let you try out the medium of linocut printmaking and see how much fun it is. Everything is supplied except the cutting tools. Thanks for visiting the Studio

It was wonderful to meet visitors to my studio at Open Studios West Gippsland and share time explaining linocuts. I love the feedback and energy I get from people on these days. On this occasion I was printing some thrush linocuts, which folded into a freestanding linocut. It was a hands-on experience for my visitors many of whom took the opportunity to roll the press. I printed with fast drying water-based inks so visitors could take one home as a souvenir.Read more

Where the Land Meets the Sea Exhibition Feb-Mar 2016

Coastal Birds, shoreline birds and special places near the sea were all themes for this exhibition of mainly linocuts and pyrography I drew Artists Sue Gilford, Kate Gorringe-Smith and Libby Schreiber together because we share common ground as bird lovers. Kate and Libby are Melbourne printmakers and Sue uses pyrography ( wood burning). Our exhibition was held at Stockyard Gallery in the small Gippsland town of Foster close to Wilson's Promontory. Collaboration: printmaker & potter

As a printmaker the 2D printed image is my primary consideration. This doesn't stop me occasionally feeling challenged to take my work into the third dimension. With the People & Place project the possibility arose to use my Linocut plates in a new way. Sue Acheson of Tarago Pottery suggested we press the plates into clay in her Rokeby studio. Working with clay was exciting and although the overall process was much longer I was delighted with the textures and surprised by the intensity of the coloured slip glazes.
