Thanks everyone who visited my studio this weekend. I really loved your company, your comments, and your printmaking questions.

The studio is brimming with a special kind of energy.

I especially loved your participation in chosing a Melways map to be printed on. I hope they dry in a few days.

Open studio weekend: Saturday was spent talking ab

Open studio weekend: Saturday was spent talking about linocut prints and printing these peace doves linocuts on the etching press for visitors to take home.

I love the way the streets and roads of the Melways show through the transparent Prussian blue ink. Visitors were able to select a print by locality or for the topographic details, such as the bay, vacant land, or dense urban map.

The little prints might take a while to dry being on shiny paper and using an extender in the ink.

Do come along if you’d like to talk printmaking, or even if you’d just like a print and want to say hi.

Tomorrow is the last day of the Biophilia exhibiti

Tomorrow is the last day of the Biophilia exhibition @printcouncilofaustralia Gallery.
This is one of my more experimental prints in the show.

I found a huge freedom in printing bleed prints, with transparent inks without having to wait for the layers to dry.

I learnt this technique at Latrobe Regional Gallery 's Heather Shimmen masterclass. Many of the prints I made for this exhibition have hues built up from 5-8 transparent layers. I still made use of my initial large linoblocks depicting bush tracks, forest and canopy but Heather’s shared techniques allowed me to push my imagery so much further and for this I will be eternally grateful.
