I’m excited to be shortlisted for the 2023 Australian Monoprint Prize with my monotype ‘It’s not the same without Ian’
This work reflects the fragility, and beauty of a place I’ve camped at when on holidays for almost 30 years. I photographed the old shed on the property belonging to my friend Ian. Over the years I watched the environmental change at this place, through drought, fire and a creeping loss of habitat. Ian isn’t with us any more and the shed is leaning over. The camping trips aren’t quite the same. Life and the things we make are fragile.
You’ll be able to see this and the other 39 shortlisted prints on exhibition at Firestation Print Studio in Armadale, Melbourne, from September 20 – October 21. There will be an opening event where the winner will be announced.
