This print is inspired by a moment at Wilson’s P

This print is inspired by a moment at Wilson’s Prom. I was walking the track between Tidal River and Squeaky Beach. I had come over the ridge line and was dropping down towards the beach with its granite rocks when a Crimson Rosella flew up off the track.

I love walking the tracks of Wilson’s Prom. There is always so much to see with the special biodiversity of the place.Thank goodness it’s a well managed National Park.

Print number 18 of an edition of 20 of ‘On Squeaky Beach’ went off to a new home yesterday.

Back in the studio today, packaging up orders. Sometimes I use print spoils and random inky paper to wrap the orders 📦✉️

Some sweet, sweet snow fell softly on Saturday aft

Some sweet, sweet snow fell softly on Saturday afternoon. We were due to leave Charlotte Pass at 7am the following morning.

The trip out was below zero and beautiful. Our landscape palette turned to intricate monochrome.

I shot this video just outside the ski lodge kitchen.

Walking from Charlotte Pass, the 2nd highest public toilet in Australia was our daywalk destination. We were on the Summit trail but, to scale Mt Kosciuszko would have added 4 hours to the trip so we chose to laze around in the sun and admire the grass and heath colours.

The famous toilet sits a snowball’s throw from Seamans hut, the highest hut in Australia. The sensitively architecturally designed stone loo is fairly recent while the hut is 95 years old.

[The hut was built in 1929 to commemorate Laurie Seaman who, with his skiing companion Evan Hayes, perished in a blizzard whilst returning from Mt Kosciuszko in the winter of 1928 and whose body was found sat leaning against a rock just to the rear of the hut.]

Monoprint using linoblocks on one of Stuey Brookes' beautiful hand drawn maps. Made in the days of Rotring pens and a lettering stencil. This one I actually used bushwalking on Baw Baw Plateau. This reproduction is dated 1998.
