I’m preparing a series of landscape paintings fo

I’m preparing a series of landscape paintings for framing.

Signing these completed works on paper is so enjoyable. I love hiding my name in the painting making it resemble at first glance, just a few more random brush strokes.

The landscape paintings are the best of my recent foray into plein-air painting — landscapes from around here; Neerim Sth, Drouin West, Noojee.

They are for a group exhibition at @warragul_art_studios which opens Saturday May 18th, 2pm. You are most welcome to attend.

I was working on my printmaking register today, when I looked up from my studio table. This Blackbird was at the birdbath looking like it might have preferred a splash. Anyway it found a few tasty bits. Note to self: fill the birdbath. #drouinstudio

I’ll be getting up super early for tomorrow’s @warragul_arts_market because of a new set up in Civic Park. Come and find my stall on the grass 8:30 -1.

Thanks everyone who visited my studio this weekend. I really loved your company, your comments, and your printmaking questions.

The studio is brimming with a special kind of energy.

I especially loved your participation in chosing a Melways map to be printed on. I hope they dry in a few days.

Open studio weekend: Saturday was spent talking ab

Open studio weekend: Saturday was spent talking about linocut prints and printing these peace doves linocuts on the etching press for visitors to take home.

I love the way the streets and roads of the Melways show through the transparent Prussian blue ink. Visitors were able to select a print by locality or for the topographic details, such as the bay, vacant land, or dense urban map.

The little prints might take a while to dry being on shiny paper and using an extender in the ink.

Do come along if you’d like to talk printmaking, or even if you’d just like a print and want to say hi.

I’ll be doing it all again today 10 -5. Cash tickets at the studio door or head to the website www.openstudioswestgippsland.com.au to book tickets and plan your day.
