How I hand colour my linocut prints

Hand colouring a linoprint is the most relaxing part of my artistic practice. I usually sit by the studio window where the light is good. I listen to music or just the bird song outside as I work.

I use water-based artist inks which I mix to exact hues. I’ve loved colouring-in since I was a child. As the paper takes the ink, the brush allows me to push or drag ink into areas ensuring a tonally flat finish when the work is dry. I find it an extremely meditative process.
