Red Wattlebirds are the second largest member of the Australian honeyeater family. An unmusical bird with calls including raucous coughs, a harsh ‘yac a yac’ and a loud ‘chok’. In these linocuts a whole gang is feasting on the nectar-rich bottlebrush flowers of a Callistemon. Here’s the colour edition print which is also available as a card.
The print is also available in a striking black & white edition which is an illustration from my Bird Speak Book collaboration with Wally Marek.
