Little Guinea Fowl lino block carved and stamped o Little Guinea Fowl lino block carved and stamped on paper before the ink dried up. A work in progress for Kristy today at @greenhills_farm.

It was such a pleasure to catch up with old friends, meet new ones and talk about lino workshops, printing presses and techniques, inks and blocks. Thanks for trekking up to this amazing garden and supporting the event. @creativeharvestgippsland continues tomorrow but sorry I won’t be there as yours truly misread her invitation email😥
Anyway today was brilliant and my cup runneth over, as they say

Detail of Cape Barren Geese linocut. Do you know w Detail of Cape Barren Geese linocut. Do you know where I get my ideas from?
The answer: ‘many places’, books, poems, newspapers, causes, and socialmedia but mainly from photos I’ve taken when I’m out walking or camping in wild places — particularly National Parks and State Parks. I stalked this pair of Cape Barren Geese near Flynn’s Beach on Phillip Island, many years ago. Often when I’m shooting I’m able to picture how a design might look and aim to capture an certain vision or frame the image in a particular way. Then I take further reference photos, such as grasses or rocks, shorelines or horizons which I can refer to when drawing the design. The process is long and labyrinth... there can be several years between taking a photo and creating a final edition of linocut prints.
Popped in to one of my favourite exhibitions—the Popped in to one of my favourite exhibitions—the 9x5 show. So much great tiny work on display. Pictured is my Cape Barren Geese linocut on paper, which has been glued onto the little board. Went with Drew, @jennifersykes6 and @geoffharrisonarts who also has beautiful little works in the show - then had a delicious Afghan banquet at @afghan_rahimi_restaurant 💯just a few doors down. Tomorrow is the last day for the exhibition.

An exciting collaboration: My linocut, “I want to read but there are pom poms in my head” has been artfully animated by John McGeoch in this short film. Voice by my daughter Alice Grant.
